Start a YouTube channel in 2020 – It’s Not Too Late
There are so many reasons why it’s a good idea for you to start a YouTube channel now in 2020 for your brand or business. I recently started my Youtube channel. It’s been growing slowly and steadily and it’s something that I’ve really enjoyed working on. As I see it, here are the top reasons to start your channel now.
Why to Start
- Google is the #1 search engine in the world. YouTube is #2. That means that anything searched in Google can also be searched in YouTube! When you search on Google video results show up. That means the titles, and descriptions of your YouTube video could show up to answer questions that people are searching for in Google (if you do the proper search engine optimization). That should be reason enough to get started!
- The second reason is that if you haven’t implemented video yet into your marketing strategy you’re really missing out on letting your audience (potential customers if you’re selling a service or product) get to know you better! Video and the audio accompanied by it shows that you’re a real person. Photos don’t always do that justice. There is so much photoshop out in the world now (which is something that I have a light hand with) that it’s hard to know reality from fantasy. With video, you easily become a real and relatable person to your audience.
Nip Fear in the Bud
If you’re like me then you’ve had the idea for a while to get started on a YouTube channel. I think I had the idea for a few years before I actually did it. Fear, self doubt, embarrassment and nerves all held me back. If I can do it, you can do it too.
At first being on camera alone in a room is a little strange. It feels weird because there is no one on the other side to receive the conversation. You anticipate uploading the video but still don’t know who will be there to listen and who will ultimately view it. That made me uneasy.
First Video
My first YouTube video was filmed on my iPhone. I wanted to make sure YouTube was something I really wanted to do and could invest time and energy into before I invested in a vlogging camera, which was a Canon G7x mark ii. The more you talk into the camera, film, edit, and upload, the easier it gets. With each video I created I got a little more comfortable. The YouTube community is quite different from the Instagram or Twitter community so it’s cool to also be reaching a new audience!
