I arrived back from Iowa yesterday. Recently I’ve been getting sick quite frequently while traveling. Getting sick while on a trip is such a bummer! Especially when it’s a short trip (which mine to Iowa was). Regardless of where you’re going or for how long, no one ever wants to get sick.
It seems to me that planes are carrying a lot of germs. After being on a semi long flight of a few hours stuck without any ventilation in a metal box catapulting through the sky I’ve been getting sick two days after arrival to my vacation destination.
I know I haven’t been getting enough sleep and have been stressed, which are both contributing factors to weakening your immune system. However, I’m thinking there must be more going on.
I’ve done a little bit of research in hopes to prevent this from happening again. What I’ve found to help is very easy to implement.
- Wipe down the plane seats and foldable tables with a wet wipe. It’s said the middle seat has the most germs because children end up sitting there between their parents.
- Bring your own water bottle that you can refill after passing through security to make it easier to stay hydrated on your flight.
- Bring a small first aid kit aboard that includes EmergenC, Vitamins, NyQuil, DayQuil and Mucinex.
- Avoid alcohol on your flight. It dehydrates you even further. Try an electrolyte rich drink instead such as coconut water.
